Easy to make but not an exciting dish I followed this recipe as is and thought it was good though a little bland. I was expecting more of an orange flavor to be honest. I had no problems getting the sauce to thicken with 1 tsp of cornstarch as stated in the recipe and thought it coated the chicken really nicely. I can definitely see this as a good starting point though with some tweaking.:)
Very good but a few changes needed After making this I'm going to change the following: 1. 1/4 Cup Orange Marmalade 2. 1 Tablespoon dijon 3. 1/2 Tablespoon cornstarch As is the sauce is a bit too runny and doesn't spoon out well over the chicken. It could also use a wee bit more flavor (I didn't include the shallots because my B/F can't do onions) so I'm going to beef up the marmalade dijon and cornstarch to hopefully resolve this issue. Quite a nice dish! I'm looking forward to trying it with the adjustments! Pros: Relatively simple and quite flavorful Cons: Sauce is too runny as is
I made only two changes to this recipe and it was perfect! Very very tasty meal and easy to make. However I wasn't a fan of the sauce the first time. I found it too watery. The second time I made it I did two teaspoons of cornstarch instead of one and the sauce was perfect! Nicer thicker consistency. I also microwaved a sweet potato for 10 min. /- depending on the size of it cut it up and added it to the recipe and it was MMMMMMMMMMM. Sweet potato and orange go so well together. Pros: Easy to make very tasty. Cons: Thin sauce but I fixed that.
Yummy for the whole family This was a simple and delicious meal that my entire family loved. The sauce was thinner than I thought but it was perfect! We served it with 90 second brown chicken rice and steamed broccoli. Pros: Fast easy healthy crowd pleaser Cons: None
This is incredibly simple to make and it can be paired with lots of things. I prefer it with a green salad. This isn't a special recipe but a good go to when you don't want to go through a lot of effort for a tasty dinner. Andreea Seattle WA
I made this tonight with a few substitutions: onion for shallots apple cider vinegar for red wine vinegar Wondra flour for cornstarch. It was okay but the orange flavor was quite delicate. I didn't have any oranges for zest; maybe that was the issue. I'll see if it's any better as leftovers tomorrow. It did come together quickly so it would be a great weeknight dinner. Colleen Bowie MD
This one's a keeper. I generally don't like red wine vinegar so I substituted the slightly sweeter balsamic. Otherwise made as written (we generally have shallots and a good French dijon in the house). Sweet tangy complex - and it smelled beautiful when I sprinkled on the freshly grated orange zest.
I made this for dinner tonight and loved it! I did however change the recipe just a bit. Instead of orange marmalade I used apricot preserves and the juice of an orange. (all the jars of orange marmalade at my local grocer had high fructose corn syrup in them... yuck!) I also added oregano a teaspoon of honey and a touch of raw sugar to the mixture. Right before I added the chicken to the thickened sauce I added three minced garlic cloves. I let the chicken cook in the sauce for about five extra minutes. My picky eater boyfriend and I loved it! This was pretty good but it was GREAT the next day after the chicken soaked in the juice all night! And super fast to make! I used garlic and dried onion instead of shallots because it was what I had on hand. I liked the extra garlic flavor. I will make this again (and again!)
SO easy to make! SO full of flavor! Not a person was talking when dinner was placed on the table that includes a picky 3 yr old. I did add a table spoon on honey and salt(a given). Served with the brown rice and salad! So going on the house menu!
I loved the flavor. Good dish when you are in a hurry. I have never had orange on anything before this so good. After cooking it a couple of times I now have the ingredients down to a science but I found the 1st couple of times I made it the sauce was a little thin now I just add more marmalade and liquids
I made the recipe exactly as stated except I used chicken breasts instead of tenders because I happened to have them in the house. For a very low fat low calorie recipe my boyfriend and I both really liked it and I would definitely make it again. It is also quick. I am on weight watchers and a lot of the eating well recipes well MOST of them are perfect for use on any health or weight loss program. I get so sick of eating plain grilled chicken or fish. This was very flavorful - we ate it with couscous.....and vegetables.
Easy Savory/Sweet I made this for my grandma and mom one night. We all love orange marmalade and this is no exception! The sauce isn't too sweet but still ahs that marmalade taste. Served with goat cheese mashed potatoes oven roasted broccoli and homemade whole wheat Irish soda bread. Pros: Easy and delicious Cons: Used too many dishes
