Super tasty This was a great recipe. I cut it in half and followed it exactly. I was concerned that the meal would be bland but the jalapeno and lime juice gave it the perfect amount of seasoning! I served this with rice and avocado sprinkled in lime juice and salt. Pros: Easy to make. Cons: Jalapenos: be careful and wash your hands thoroughly afterward!
Nearly the best Shrimp Creole I have ever eaten regardless of the name. I made this dish last night and it was wonderful. I had noticed a lack of seasoning in the recipe so I took it upon myself to add a couple of pinches of sea salt and an pinch of fresh cracked pepper to the veggies after the tomatoes went in. I also changed up the cooking order just a bit. I live on the coast of NC so very fresh shrimp are readily available and don't like to be over cooked. I used EV Coconut oil and fried the bay leaf then removed it and added the pepper and onion til just crisp tender. Added the fresh tomatoes and when all was simmering added the shrimp (31-35 count) until just cooked thru. Served it with brown rice and it was a satisfying meal for all. Pros: Quick and easy to make and very healthy Cons: Without a little sea salt and fresh cracked pepper it's pretty bland.
bland Pretty quick to make - but as I was preparing this I thought that maybe I was missing an ingredient or the like since there was no seasoning. Took a chance on it anyway and it turned out super bland even with added lime juice. Also really watery when finished. Pros: lots of veggies Cons: no flavor
Delicious and quick! This was a great and tasty dish. It had just enough spice and went well served over brown rice. I will be making it again. Pros: Spicy filling lots of vegetables healthy Cons: None
Fresh and flavorful This dish was super easy to make and very tasty! With or without the olives you will love it. Keep the seeds or some of them to increase the heat. Serve with low-sodium black beans and I promise you will be full from this meal. Pros: Fresh quick fun and healthy Cons: None
Delicious! I had never tried this dish before so I had no idea what to expect or any way of knowing if what I had produced was anywhere near what it was supposed to be. Regardless it tasted really well. Really great balance between the flavours. I think the olives especially added something. We had it with rice tortillas and these spiced little corn snacks to add some crunch. I was a bit apprehensive about the shrimp since I only the frozen variety. But it turned out well. Gave it a couple of minutes more than the recipe designates and sort of improvised from there. Very delicious dish. I'll definitely do it again. Pros: Quite easy to cook very tasty Cons: Shrimps a bit risky to cook
Delicicous! This is so delicious and easy! When I can't think of anything to make for diner I make this because it's so good and easy! I always make spanish rice with it. The only problem is that sometimes it gets too spicy with the jalepanos so be cautious when using them. Pros: easy tasty
Delicious and looks gourmet on your plate! I used black olives instead of green skipped the lime seasoned with Penzey's fajita seasoning served with brown rice and black beans. Delicious!!! Am making it a Friday staple! Pros: Fast easy healthy! Cons: Two jalapenos was WAY too hot & I eat habanero sauce on popcorn! WIll use milder peppers next
I used black olives instead of green served with brown rice and black beans. Delicious! Pros: Fast delicious healthy Cons: Two jalapenos was WAY too hot and I eat habanero sauce on popcorn! WIll make again with a milder pe
Shrimp Veracruzana This dish is amazing. Low in calories High in flavor. Anyone who is watching their intake and hates to miss out on the good stuff should try this dish. Its easy to make and I am even looking forwarding to adding more fresh veggies to this dish. Pros: Easy to make 192 cal Delicious Fresh Cons: Nothing
Love this dish! This is one of my favorite recipes. I make it each year for Cinco de Mayo. I think the recipe is perfect as is but I do add corn and some Corona. I serve it on top of rice pilaf. So good!!
Fantastic Dish This dish was quite good. Reminded me of fajitas. I used this dish to make shrimp tacos. The only modification I made was that I left out the olives. I will definitely make this dish again. Pros: light Cons: none
It was good and easy to make. That's always a plus. However when they say to serve with rice or potatoes they MEAN serve it with rice or potatoes because the tomatoes make the dish runny brothy. I also found the flavor to be just a little bland. I kicked it up with some crushed red pepper and a bit of Creole seasonings - awesome!
i made it just now--super easy and tasted really good. As far as the blandness comment I disagree the lime actually added a nice little flavor to it. The only thing that took awhile as peeling the shrimp.:) Also I didn't make it with rice or potatoes. I made it w/ steamed baby broccoli to cut down on carbs. I also left out the olives and used capers instead because I don't like olives. ENJOY!
I made this once and the tomatoes were a bit too watery so the second time I cooked the sauce down and only added the shrimp at the very end. Delicious! The first time I used it as a starter and the second time as a main course - will use this recipe again and again!
I made this but didn't use the Olives or the Lime because I didn't want to and we didn't have any limes. I served with fresh-home-made corn tortillas and low fat sour cream. It was amazingly good and my husband loved it as well... Very spicy and yummy Thanks so much we'll be having this again...
Quick and satisifying We adore this recipe. It's quick easy and really hits the spot. It's made it into a 2 week rotation on our house. Instead of fresh tomato I've use a drained can of diced tomato which works out really well. I served it over Whole Grain Rice Pilaf from this site and it was great! Pros: easy and quick Cons: needs a starch
Great Dish This is a great dish. Next time I make it I will be ahead of the game by slicing dicing chopping veggies & having them ready. A few changes: no bay leaf used 2 thinly sliced med. onions sliced black olives grape tomatoes (quartered) & I also cut my shrimp to make smaller. When I added the tomatoes I also added cilantro. This is a delicious dinner served with brown rice & sliced avocado. I will definitely be making this again. Pros: Colorful great looking & tasting dish Cons: Slicing dicing chopping
Bland... I found this to be really bland. Although it is a quick recipe to cook the prep work takes enough extra time (in addition to chopping the vegetables I also had to peel the shrimp because I could not find any that was already peeled) for it to not be worth my while to make it again. Even my husband who normally loves anything with shrimp said it was only "ok."
