  • 1 tablespoon reduced-fat cream cheese, (Neufchâtel)
  • 1/4 teaspoon honey
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly grated orange zest
  • 2 slices very thin whole-wheat sandwich bread
  • 2 medium strawberries, sliced

  1. Combine cream cheese, honey and orange zest in a bowl. Spread bread with the cheese mixture. Place sliced strawberries on 1 piece of bread, top with the other.

Delightfully Refreshing & Light I found this recipe over 4 years ago, & its definitely in my top 3 favorite sandwiches. It has a perfect balance of flavors with the zing of the orange & the tang of the cream cheese, which the honey really brightens & brings together;--Paired with the sweet strawberries & the earthy taste of the whole wheat bread, it's a match made in heaven. You can taste each ingredient separately, harmoniously united together in every bite. It's perfect for breakfast, summer lunch, or for those uncontrollable munchie attacks. Pros: light,simple,mood lifting,guilt free,sweet,tangy,refreshing Cons: none

Not the way its supposed to be made This is a great recipe. Only use regular cream cheese instead of low fat, and serve lightly toasted open face. I don't see how this would be good as a sandwich. But on a bagel or toast for breakfast would work very well.

A different sandwich treat! I made this sandwich using a low carb whole wheat tortilla for a quck wrap sandwich. I added some slices of ham rolled up as a side dish to give better protein values to the meal. Pros: easy, few ingredients Cons: need to add more protein to this for a meal

A Couple modifications I used Udi's Gluten Free Cinnamon Raisin bread and regular cream cheese w/o the zest (I didn't have any oranges on hand) and loved it. I'll be having this often this summer.

Wasn't sure about this, but I loved it. I used a bagel (french toast flavored) instead, which may have taken some of the nutritional value (worth it). Another tip... While I was making this, my husband got creative. He scooped out the inside of one of the larger strawberries, mixed the insides with the honey and cream cheese, and put this back in the strawberry. It was amazing.

Modification I was just thinking that it might be good to toast that bread up a little bit to give it more structure and add another flavor dimension to it... I'll let you know how it turns out!

Good This was ok. I didn't have any orange zest, but it still tasted good without it. I' not sure I would make it again though.
