Kids and adults alike will love these quick, zippy burgers. The beans make the burgers a little fragile, so be careful when taking them off the broiler pan. Make it a meal: serve a green salad and frozen mango slices for dessert.

  • 12 ounces 93%-lean ground beef
  • 1 cup refried beans
  • ½ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon chopped pickled jalapenos
  • 1 avocado, peeled and pitted
  • ½ cup prepared salsa
  • ⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 whole-wheat tortillas, warmed (see Tip)
  • 2 cups shredded romaine lettuce
  • ½ cup shredded pepper Jack cheese
  • 1 lime, cut into 4 wedges

  1. Position oven rack in upper third of oven; preheat broiler. Coat a broiler pan with cooking spray.
  2. Gently combine ground beef, beans, cilantro and jalapenos in a medium bowl (do not overmix). Shape into four 5-by-2-inch oblong patties and place on the prepared pan.
  3. Broil the patties until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center reads 165°F, 12 to 14 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, mash together avocado, salsa and garlic powder in a small bowl.
  5. Place tortillas on a clean work surface. Spread each with the guacamole, then sprinkle with lettuce and cheese. Top each with a burger and roll into a wrap. Serve immediately, with lime wedges.
  • Tip: To warm tortillas: Wrap in foil; bake at 300°F until steaming, about 5 minutes. Or wrap in barely damp paper towels and microwave on High for 30 to 45 seconds.

Yummy! Made these tonight and thought they were really good! I love the beans and avocado along with the cilantro. I added liquid smoke and smoked paprika also.

Delicious and Filling Made these tonight with a couple of small changes. I used 1 lb of ground sirloin, 1 can of refried black beans and added bread crumbs. I also used queso cheese and topped it with some fresh tomato in addition to the other toppings. I will be making them again soon, even my picky 4 yr old and 1 year old devoured these. Pros: easy to make Cons: falls apart

Just like a taco I used turkey and by the time its cooked it is compeletly mush and looks just like taco meat, so really, this is a taco recipe.

Delish! Made this for the first time and will make them again. Very good! I used refried black beans. I pan fried it hoping it wouldn't fall apart but it did. Any advice? Cons: falls apart easily

Easy to make it and very tasty! I will definitely be making these again! I used the recommended ingredients. I will probably use black beans and fresh garlic like other reviewers suggested. The burgers did fall apart while cooking, I will premake the burgers and refrigerate them before cooking. Overall, it was a great meal! Pros: Convenient, easy ingredients, hearty Cons: burgers fell apart while cooking

Absolutely Fabulous! This recipe was fabulous! I used black beans instead of the refried beans, which I mashed lightly with a potato masher. I used 1 lb of grass-fed organic beef and 1 can of black beans, drained. I also used 2 cloves of fresh garlic instead of the garlic powder. And instead of the pickled jalapenos, I used fresh roasted green chilies. I pan-fried instead of broiling and served open faced topped with a slice of jalapeno jack cheese, pico de gallo and sliced bread, which cuts down on the carbs! FABULOUS and a huge hit with my family! Pros: Easy, delicious! Cons: None

Creamy - Yummy - Delicious! This was fantastic. I'm a fan of Eating Well and I like to regularly try out their recipes, and this was yet another home run. The refried beans made the lean meat extra moist, and the cilantro - lime - avocado mixture is a winning combination in my opinion. I served my wrap with salt & pepper baked Kettle chips. I will DEFINITELY be making this again - might even switch things up and try it with ground turkey or chicken! Pros: Easy, quick, satisfying Cons: Messy

Truly outstanding I made these using 99% fat-free turkey instead of beef. They were phenomenal. They were not difficult to make and tasted so very good! These will definitely become a staple in my house!

So fast and easy to make. These were ready very quickly. Easy for my 4 year old to eat. Doesn't fall apart on him like a burrito would.
