Very tasty Really enjoyed made exactly as recipe with the exception of suing smaller tomatoes - sweet cocktail tomatoes from Costco. Baked for 10 minutes. The fresh Oregano is a must flavours of pizza! Pros: Healthy Cons: use smaller tomatoes
Southern girl with abundance of fresh tomatoes. Just made this for breakfast--yep breakfast. Loved it with cheese grits and scrambled eggs. I blotted the tomatoes on paper towels so they wouldn't get mushy then mixed some breadcrumbs with the parm. Baked at 400 for ca. 10 min. Will make this again
Lower heat So the 450 this called for was too hot for my oven I lowered to 425 after checking them and finding them to be almost burning only needed about 10 mins. bake time. Also I would recommend to spray your pan with cooking spray mine stuck like crazy and were very mushy over all they tasted great and my husband would eat them again. Pros: great flavor easy to make Cons: heat too high stuck to pan
The first time I made this it wasn't so great;there was too much tomato that muddled all of the flavor. However with a few tweaks it turned out to be a great side dish. I added a little mozzarella to go with the parmesan because it melts so much better. I also added garlic for more depth of flavor. The biggest difference was scooping out the insides of the tomato (I used roma tomatoes). Doing this changed the whole dish! You don't need to scrape out everything but getting the main chunk of tomato in there will make such a big difference. With some changes I would recommend this dish to everyone!
Nothing Special The photo of the dish doesn't match the recipe description so I just sliced a large tomato into thick slices to match the picture. Halfway through baking I could see that not much was happening with the parmesan so I added mozzarella cheese and put it back into the oven then added an additional 10 minutes to the baking time. I served them on the side of roasted chicken and they looked fabulous...but that's where it ended. When you cut through it the cheese just slides right off the tomato. The skin slipped off too making it look kinda gross. There's not much flavor... just tasted like warmed up tomato with cheese on it. I added this as a pin on pinterest but I'm taking it off and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Pros: quick Cons: bland
Soggy and sad I made four large slices each out of my tomatoes (like photo accompanying the article) followed the recipe and was very disappointed. They came out very soggy and the cheese never melted or browned. Unsurprising really as parmesan doesn't melt well! Maybe this would work better with a different cheese but I'm not going to bother trying it again to find out. Pros: Quick Cons: Soggy bland
I'm not a tomato lover...still not. I have never been a huge tomato fan but I have been wanting to try something new. I decided with the cheese and oregano it might be a lot better. It definitely didn't do the trick for me. Im sure if you are a die hard tomato fan you will be impressed with this dish but I wasn't. Pros: Quick simple Cons: Bland
Tasty-ish Love Parmesan cheese....love tomatoes....but was disappointed by the combo of flavours. Especially after all the reviews that raved about these. They're a good snack...but definitely not amazing. Pros: Warm filling nutritious
Wet but squashed the pizza craving So I made these today and they really did alleviate the pizza craving. I didn't think they would but instead of ordering a whole pizza (for myself since Hubby wouldn't have any) I had one tomato sliced out oil spritzed basil dashed topped with FF cheddar shreds and a sprinkle of FF grated Parmesan. I'll reduce the time to 10 or even 5 mins though. 15 didn't stop them from being really wet and it doesn't take that long to melt cheese. Pros: Easy and low calorie. Cons: Still very wet
OMG!!! I am SOOO glad I decided to try something new because these are SOOOOO good. They taste like pizza without the bread (and without the carbs!) I will probably make these over and over again! I made these cutting them into slices of three. Four would have made them too thin because they seem to cook down just a tad. Hint: Put foil on the pan for easy clean up. Pros: tasty easy fast Cons: sloppy hard to transport
Not a fan of tomatoes Made this with my daughter this afternoon. It was done in a flash. We plan to make it again and again. We added minced garlic and two wedges of laughing cow to the cheese---sundried tomatoe The best! Pros: Flavor was out of this world! Quick and easy.
I baked this recipie at 400 degrees and now I am cleaning my oven what a mess it makes if I ever made them again I would bake at 325 - 350 for a longer period of time. I would also use basil not oregano.
very tasty & quick! Made this tonight. It was very good! The only change I made was to use red pepper instead of black pepper. I can definitely recommend it. I'll try using cherry tomatoes next time to make it easier to eat. If it works I have a new go-to party appetizer. Pros: fast tasty fresh Cons: a bit awkard to eat
Very Tasty I thought these were very yummy. And tomatoes cooked with olive oil are very good for you. On the down side they got smokey in the oven which made the smoke alarm go off. lol! I'd make them again.
Fantastic and super easy!! I made these last night as a side dish and they were awesome!! My whole family loved them and this is coming from a family who HATES tomatoes!! I only tried them because the looked so yummy and I'm glad I did because they are!!:)
I loved these tomatoes. They are very easy to make and taste delicious! The only change I made from the recipe was to slice the tomatoes into about four thick slices each (as pictured in the photo) instead of halving them as called for in the recipe.
Yummy and Quick! This recipe was ridiculously easy and quick. We made them on the grill (summer didn't want to heat up the house) and it did take a bit longer. I think the suggestion for slices would have made it a bit more tender. However it was very yummy. I would definitely make again!!
Yummy! Will definitely make again! These little guys are SO YUMMY! SO LOW CAL!!! Pros: Tastes great! Even got my bf who doesn't like cooked tomatoes to like these! Cons: look SO good we were tempted to eat them before they cooled!
