Great beginner recipe The first time I made this I had a problem with the cheese sauce and all of my cheese ended up in a big lump. After that first time I did things a little differently. I cook the sausage in a large pan with a lid. Once the sausage is cooked I add the garlic arugula (I've also used spinach) and grape or cherry tomatoes that are cut in half or quarters depending on how big they are. I stir it up cover it and leave it for awhile. I keep checking and stirring it until the tomatoes are broken down well. Usually because I've had a lid on the pan I have a good amount of liquid. I add some olive oil to everything in the pan and mix it up. I usually don't need the extra cooking water. I then drain my pasta and dump the contents of the pan into it and mix it all up. I only add cheese at the end and only to the portion I'm eating. I find it works out best for me this way no clumping cheese. I cook only for myself so this leaves me plenty of leftovers to bring to work for lunch and additional dinners. I use an entire 1 pound box of pasta and either turkey or chicken sausage that I get from a farmers market or Whole Foods. I try to get it as close to a pound as possible but sometimes I end up with a little more so I use it all. Pros: easy tasty leftovers
Easy and tasty I loved this - so easy to make and quick too. I used zucchini instead of tomatoes and I added a dash of lemon juice to the sauce and I sprinkled in some crushed red pepper flakes. Delicious! Only problem was the clumpy cheese which I wouldn't have had if I'd read the reviews first!:) Pros: Easy tasty Cons: Clumpy cheese
Used Tofu Sausage instead of turkey I substituted Tofu Sausage links instead of turkey and it was a great way to turn this into a vegetarian meal. As a meal for 2 people it left plenty of leftovers for the week. Will make again.
Great Recipe I love this recipe! I used asiago cheese instead of parmesan and I added red onion and zucchini for more veggies. This is definitely a new weekday night go-to for me. Pros: Easy Fast Tasty Cons: None!
This is a delicious dish. To fix the cheese sauce problem - I just mixed it in a small bowl the poured it over the pasta mixture in a big bowl....mixed from there. The meal even tastes great reheated in the microwave for lunches. Kathy Odessa De
This is a really good nice and light dish. I think it would've been better to add the garlic while the turkey sausage was cooking to release more of the flavor. Had issues with the "cheese sauce" too it just stuck to the bottom of my bowl. Christina Austin TX
I love this recipe. I've only made one change.. I used non fat milk instead of pasta liquid. When I used the pasta liquid it didn't mesh at all and cheese ended up clumping and sticking to the bottom of the bowl. Other than that excellent recipe. Amy Burbank Ca
I really liked how easy this meal is so could easily make at the end of a hectic day. It was healthy and delicious and makes great leftovers. This will be made again and probably even for friends. Christina Stone Emmaus pa
Wow... this was great and very very easy to make! very flavorful but maybe next time would not add any salt at all... i doubled step 3. Definitely will make this again... friends and family loved it!! Amanda C TX
Delicious and light! I love this pasta it tastes delicious even minus the heavy cream or traditional pasta sauces. I substituted regular Italilan sausage and it tasted equally good. Will make this again!
Made this for the first time tonight it was so great! I also substituted non-fat milk for pasta water so it be a little bit thicker as well as mixing the "chesse sauce" in a small bowl then pouring it over the pasta. Definitely will be making this dish again. Light and delicious!
Loved it! I am making my first forays into the cooking world and this turned out great for me! I agree with Amy (above) about the clumping cheese being a small problem - but I used liquid from the tomato/greens/sausage mixture not the pasta. Looking forward to the leftovers... Yum!!!!!!!! I just finished eating this dish and it was amazinggg! My favorite recipe on here so far:) I couldnt find spicy italian sausage so I just added some cayenne for a little kick. Also I used romano cheese for the sauce and it was the perfect flavor combo! Thanks! Pros: Very Easy Cons: none!
