Too many carbs This is far too sweet and has way too many carbs for me. Cut the fruit by at least half- about a quarter cup of berries OR the banana is OK, and add a scoop of protein powder to make a smoothie that is healthy and will keep you from being hungry in an hour Pros: Lots of healthy stuff

Better recipe for cutting calories and loosing weight Try 1/2 cup frozen strawberries or blueberries (both low in sugar content) 1/2 cup greek yogurt, 1/2 scoop vanilla whey protein powder but not necessary (bio trust is great), 1 packet of stevia (NO other sugar substitute) 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk or unsweetened coconut milk (found in your refrigerated grocery health food section) and blend (fruit juice is loaded with sugar). You can also add a handful of fresh kale and you wont even taste it! Cons: juice

I recently became a smoothie addict. I'm making a green smoothie every day as part of the breakfast or lunch. 2 main things: powerful blender and ratio of fruits & veggies. Most of the time I'm making sure the fruits make less than 50% of the ingredients to cut down on sugar. My recent fave is 2 cups of spinach, 1/2 avocado, an orange (not just juice, the whole orange), about a cup of grapefruit and ice. If I don't have fresh grapefruit I use some from the No sugar added Del Monte jar. Sometimes I add a scoop of flavorless whey protein. It's a little tart and absolutely refreshing. Even my husband who doesn't like smoothies (especially green) drinks one and asks for more!

Yummy - with revisions I edited this recipe to cut down on some of the sugar and boost its nutritional index. Instead of 1/2 cup of fruit juice I instead use about 1/3 cup of almond milk, a splash of 100% cranberry juice (adds some tartness that I like), and the juice of one fresh juice orange. I also add in 1 cup of fresh spinach to the mix as well as a dollop of yogurt. Pros: Delicious, easy to make Cons: Maybe too much sugar?

awesome breakfast smoothie i usually make this with skim milk instead of apple juice and a scoop of vanilla whey protein powder instead of tofu. according to the packages, my "no added sugar" apple juice has 14 g sugar in a 1/2 cup and my mixed berries have 10 g. not sure what the sugar content is in a banana or tofu, but remember none of it is "added" sugar. it is ok to eat a little bit of sugar, it naturally occurs in lots of healthy food.

The great thing about smoothie recipes that you can alter them to your needs and taste. Too much sugar in these bad boys? I would cut out the apple juice and add some low fat vanilla yogurt for texture and taste. Looking to lose weight or sneak in veggies? Invest in a juicer!!!!!!!! I swear it is so important. I hate carrots but I juice one big one and put it in with my smoothie and add some vanilla flavored whey protein. I swear it is delicious. Experiment with frozen fruit. Trust me, no need for sugary juices the fruit will make it nice and sweet and yummy.

This smoothie was good. Swapped out apple juice with 1 cup peanut butter and berries for dark chocolate. I lost weight instantly!
