  • Mix sugar, cocoa and 2 tablespoons cold milk in a mug until smooth. Heat the remaining milk in a small saucepan on the stovetop or in a 2-cup glass measure in the microwave until steaming hot but not boiling. Stir in the cocoa mixture and vanilla.

  • To froth the hot chocolate, whirl a whisk in it by rubbing your hands back and forth. (Alternatively, pour the hot chocolate into a blender, cover with the lid and a kitchen towel and blend until frothy.) Pour it back into the mug and sprinkle with cinnamon.

yummy delicious hot chocolate but obviously not as easy as the packets. nice to be able to use 'basic' ingredients to make it - and it tastes better than the packets! I still recommend good old Ovaltine. I love it hold or cold plus it's much easier than measuring out 3 or 4 separate ingredients for a simple mug of hot/cold chocolate. With Ovaltine I can approximate the quantity of mix and easily adjust it if I'm not happy with the initial taste. Plus I've also found it to be richer in both flavor and texture than I can create at home easily. It's great with both soy milk and regular milk too! Lastly don't forget all those extra minerals and vitamins that Ovaltine adds - making your hot chocolate or chocolate milk that much better for you. I just wish they hadn't changed their packaging - the new container looks strange. Read More
