Nonprofit launches North America's first GMO verification program.

With genetically modified organisms (GMO) abundant in our food supply, how do you know what foods are GMO-free? The nonprofit Non-GMO Project has launched North America’s first verification program to certify that the most commonly genetically modified ingredients (e.g., soy and corn) have no more than 0.9 percent GMO. This threshold is the same in Europe, which allows for trace amounts of GMO from accidental contamination. Look for the seal on foods at your grocery store now.
