A continuous regiment of Good vitamins and supplements is the key to not even getting a cold. Do the research when selecting vitamins, there are many out there that are not what they say on the label and cheap vitamins are a waste of money (because they mostly contain fillers, that's why they're cheap). Look for the brands like Young Living, Nutrilite (from Amway) or Juice Plus.
There's positive research on how probiotics can boost the immune system but don't be fooled by the sugar filled yogurts or sugar-free yogurts (which is worse). Look for Kefir instead or take a probiotic supplement.
If you do get a cold, green tea and chicken soup can be a real comfort and probably can help to give the immune system a boost. Be sure to use organic ingredients!

I was nineteen years old and considered myself an ordinary Seaman. I joined the Netherlands Whaling.co. Our Factory ship was the "WILLEM BARENDZ" registered in Holland. Approaching the fore part of the Catcher I was on, AM4, I felt so alone and ponderred the question as to "What in the world made me to come to the Antarctic. I also thought, WOW! I am a whalerman now. It was then that it happened.A wave crossed the bow of the Catcher, I had not been aware while I was daydreaming, that the ship had plunged into the crevice of an enormous wave approximately 30-40 ft. It hit me square in the face. I lost conciousness and when I awoke I was holding on the cable that secured the lifeboat with a bottleneck screw. Cold was not the word. I ended up on the factory ship stiff as could be, spent a week there, with no improvement. I said to myself if I should die, let it be from the catcher.. George Johnson AB remarked on my return to the catcher, lets give you some home remedies johnny, and we did. "Aspro: was the Asprin in those days and with the juice of two lemons from the Hollander cook and two aspro's ,I was told to sweat it out under the blankets. The next morning after all the sweat, I never felt better and resumed my duties. I still use the remedy but with any pain killer. Wanna try it?

I do all of these things. I take the vitamins and probiotics daily and drink green tea often. If a cold does start to come on, I take Sambucol and eat chicken soup and usually have good luck at relieving symptoms.

Chicken soup with a few drops of Tabasco always works.
