I basically followed the diabetic diet but overate and did the seesaw bit for years, lost and regained the weight many times over. When a co-worker commented that she thought I was losing weight, I decided to actually do something about it. The only items I cut out were fried foods and rich desserts - and didn't feel obliged to empty my plate!!!! The first six months I lost 60 lbs, and the 2nd six months I lost approx. 30-40 lbs. In the following years I would lose some and then hit a plateau. Now ten years have gone by and I have lost a total of 170 lbs. and have never gained any of it back. In the past year and a half I have remained within two lbs. of my goal. Although due to health problem and old age I didn't regain my figure as I'm unable to exercise other than walk on a fairly regular basis, but I eat more natural foods and am content with the fact that I'm eating a healthier and more balanced diet and including more fibres.

Simple carbs, refined and over-processed foods. I try to eat as much whole, organic, non-GMO food as possible!
