I wanted to click all of the choices in your poll, but it wouldn't let me do that. I've been a vegetarian for over 40 years, but also try to avoid too much salt & cheese. In this, moderation is the key. If shopping at a standard supermarket, I avoid those non-organic foods that are known to be the prime GMO crops & look at the annual list of the "dirty dozen" for heavy pesticide residues. (Unfortunately, that includes blueberries.)
After a new study on the Mediterranean Diet came out on Feb. 25, 2013, I read more about it. I'm glad to see that there are vegetarian & vegan versions, but I can't eat too many beans due to the gas. Still, I am looking into that. I'm glad to see that I can include sesame oil, which I prefer to olive oil. At this stage, I'm not really sure how the Mediterranean Diet would be a change for me, except I'm trying to include more veggies & to count how many I eat each day. Keeping fruits & veggies on hand is the biggest difficulty. Having things ready to take to work is another.

I eliminated refined sugar. By doing this I stopped itching (my skin is improving), and I am losing weight..

If you eliminate Wheat, Dairy and Sugar from a diet you will lose weight with ease. No sweeteners, sugar, or sweet additives!! Also stay away from Tea and Coffee.
You can lose about 10 Kg in 10 weeks with the Candida diet. Stick to it - it is great.

I do not drink pasturized/homogenized milk, only raw from an organic farm. No GMO's, no high fructose corn syrup, almost no processed foods, no caffein, not even decaf. To the best of my ability I eat only seasonal organically and sustainably raised foods. I source most of my food from my garden, local farmers and the wild. As far as salt, fats, alcohol, etc, I try to excercise a modicum of moderation, sometimes more, sometimes less.

As a newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetic, everything on the list is now restricted. Had to pretty much change entire diet. Now eat much more healthy.

All gluten! Diagnosed with Celiac Disease in August 2011. It makes a huge difference in my daily life and how good and energized I feel. also, gluten affects blood sugar control, which I also have type 2 Diabetes that is well controlled and I attribute GF eating with that benefit. Last May, I was diagnosed with stage 3a melanoma and after 2 radical surgeries I am NED for the last 10 months...medical protocol was for me to take Interferon as an adjuvant therapy for 1 year. All doctors and medical info agrees a very nasty drug and it came down to only a 3-5% advantage over doing nothing! It is supposed to super charge your immune system to fight off any additional cancer but absolutely destroys 1 year of your life! Instead, I chose to eat gluten free, clean, whole foods and eliminate processed foods from my diet. Thereby accomplishing the same goal of pumping up my immune system to be able to fight off cancer but leaving all the poison out! If I have a recurrence I want my body as well as my immune system to be in the best shape it can be! Even with such importance for me to eat GF, I still struggle with the addictive power of gluten and processed foods. It is a battle and the reason for seeking out all the help I can get!

I have food allergies so I eat healthy without any additives, especially corn syrup, cornstarch, artificial sweeteners. It's hard but not impossible.

Low sodium..I cook my own soup. Low fats. Low carbs. Eating more fruits and vegetables. Also eating only 1/2 of the quantity I used to. Recently diagnosed with pancreatitis and diabetis. Overweight and also suffer from high blood pressure and high colestroal.

We don't deep fry foods and use olive oil to pan sauté. We eat lots of fruit and veggies and follow a moderate Mediterranean diet as my husband is Spanish.
