If the FDA approves and labels genetically engineered salmon, and verifies it is safe for human health, would you eat it? (Comments & Reviews) (Page 4)

I really can't trust what happens when people change an already perfect food into something modified. Count me out!

You've heard the saying "You are what you eat". Need I say more. We already drink growth hormones in our milk supply, antibiotics in meat and eggs, etc. All the food industry seems to care about is money. Don't they see the "long term" affects? Or, maybe they just don't care.

We alter too much of our food stock with out careful consideration and testing. Rush, rush into something new, that biologically we don't need to tinker with.

I won't eat it for the same reason I don't eat other processed food-like substances, because I think the God who made us also made the food required to sustain us. I believe that to eat a variety of real food is the best way to stay healthy.

How do we know that these genetically engineered products are really, truly safe? Just because the scientists and/or the governments say so?

How will it affect the bodies and minds of children many years down the road? Will their brains be affected, or their reproductive systems, or will some new disease appear?

I would like to know what the long lasting affects of eating genetically engineered food would have on our health in the long run. To me it wouldn't be worth the risk until more studies have been done. I love fish and I know we are depleting our oceans by over fishing, but I just don't think it is safe to eat this fish, yet.

I am not sure. I have no fear of Frankenfood at this time. so I guess it depends on appearance and flavor

Genentically altering fish or any other species is fraught with possibilites that they wil escape and endanger natural species it has happened...the Meditteranean is a perfext example of that.
We need to res-seed the oceans by breeding species that we fish in intnsive sea farms and then letting
them re-populate. Of course it is almost too late for this greed andavarice of man kind has virtually destroyed
vast amounts of sealife and their habiat already.

I would never want to eat genetically modified foods, although I am sure I already have. :( Even if GE salmon was the only food item that was modified or whether there were millions of GE products, I am vehemently against the concept of tampering with our foods and changing the genetic structure of them! Besides, just because the FDA approves of anything does not guarantee that it is safe. (This has been proven countless number of times, including with prescription drugs.) This organization does not do what it should and members of this organization have ties with processed food and pharmaceutical companies, so the FDA will not usually disseminate accurate and non-biased infomation about what is in our food and drugs!

I think there are too many altered foods already that is why there is so much CANCER of late and why it doesn't go away. The food we eat is so full of chemicals, years ago you hardly heard of cancer let alone all these other deseases, I think it is all the chemicals they inject in animals to make them more meaty and so you can process them quicker, and the spraying of our green veggies, stuff just isn't safe to eat anymore. I grow my own veg. and kill my own meat so I am hoping that will help me and my family from cancer and other deseases. That is my opinion.
