As an older woman--61 next month-- I lost weight (ten pounds) over this past year by sticking to 1000-1200 Kcalories daily; I am aware that for most women who wish to lose weight, eating less than 1500 Kcalories is a MUST; higher protein, lower carb, and lower GI carbs worked best for me. I'd be interested to learn more about poll takers who have lost weight and kept it off! (so far I've kept it off, but still can't eat more than 1400 Kcal!!

Um, I'm willing to bet that some of the people who voted here aren't aware of all the calories they eat. 1500 calories or less is VERY LITTLE.
Two words - food diary. It's a real eye opener, whether you're on a diet, or just want to track your food. you will find you eat WAY more than what you think, and it all adds up fast.

I'd love to eat 3,000 a day because I like food..but just lost 125 lbs. and want to keep it off. It's tough adjusting ...
