We are what we eat. Sustainable food is better for us and for the planet on which we live. It tastes better and saves longer. If we all ate sustainably and purchased as much locally grown food as possible, not only would we be healthier but we would be supporting local food growers.

I buy what sounds good, sometimes price makes a difference, such as in meat. I will buy the steak that is on-sale. I buy fish and chicken breasts frozen from SAMS. I buy much of our food for convenience, taste, and cost.

I look for "locally grown" first and buy as much USDA certified organic EVERYTHING. My bill is about 20% more but if everyone did it, the economies of scale would kick in and our planet would be a safer place to live.
