Every little bit helps! I work at a seasonal-fast paced construction company. Most of us have to travel and because of the extended summer work hours , don't have time or energy for a garden. The lady that cares for the office grounds and I started growing cherry tomatoes in containers. She also grew them as well as onions, etc. amongst the flower beds. What a treat to be able to pick fresh veggies at lunch or break time.

I just put a garden in my front yard last year, and I can't wait to plant this year. I already have kale growing, and onions and spinach. My kids LOVE it, and they eat so many more veggies now that I have it. Plus they see how stuff grows. It's so great to run out to the front to pick my veggies for the night. How much fresher can you get? I love it!! And it helps me eat more vegetarian foods -- I have a bunch of ways to get my veggies in -- garden frittata, veggie flat bread, crostini, pasta.... the list goes on!!

We grow tomatoes and cucumbers and in the past have grown peas, green beans, peppers, garlic, and onions but as our trees got bigger we don't much light so stick to a smaller plot. We are considering giving up some lawn space in the back yard that does get enough sun to add more growing opportunity. I would love to have chickens but my hubby isn't keen on that idea.

I just have enough space to grow herbs. But it's definitely nice to have all summer & fall long. Saves us a ton of money!
