This whole weight thing in this country boils down to the fact that we no longer eat the way our bodies were designed for...It's simple but hard for many to impliment...and that is to eat nutritionally dense whole foods and drink only water...Look for health first in your eating habits and the weight will take care of itself...Exercise is important in maintaining lean muscle mass but diet is the key to body fat percentage.

I have found a new love for fiber rich foods! But my dilema is the ASPARTAME in our drinks and sugar free items. I would like to know why it is used over the "SPLENDA". I would be glad to pay a-LITTLE more for Splenda products, but hey are few and far between. My Dr. Told me to stop eating and drinking all Aspartame products as it is causing me weight gain and hair loss. Any other comments???

Yes I agree, my girlfriends Fibromialgia symptoms disapeared when she stopped Aspartame. You can find pop products by Diet coke, Diet Rite & Shasta w/ Splenda & Menards has a great price on Shasta.

I am a very active woman. I work out in the gym four to five days a week.I also run at least three to five miles about four days a week. On top of doing my yard work. How much calories should I eat in a day? I try eat wele, by eating special K cereal, and watching the carbs. Please can you give me some advice on what and how much I should be eating. Thank you. thanks for all the intersting articles and recipes, I enjoy EW website very much! I'd like to say that in doing research on Splenda (and the other artificial sweetners) that I no longer want such unnatural chemicals in my foods. it's no wonder our societies diseases have skyrocketed! I've also learned that High fructose corn syrup isn't the 'evil'sugar either, it's just another name for regular sugar! I'm changing my viewpoint of what I put in my body and will be MUCH better for it -- as well as my family. I'd rather burn the extra calories from natural sugar. Stevia is my sugar of choice! :) happy living to all of you.... may you be well.

Losing weitght is all about getting control of your appetite center. How do you do that? Simply by eating good carbs, good fats, no sugar. When you eat low glycemic you no longer over eat and thus lose weight. Hardly anyone talks about the root of our fat society which is controlling your appetite center in your brain.

Dear Amy, im not quite sure where you got your info but high fructose corn syrop is processed and one of the worse things you can add to your diet. im assuming that your research is based on government articles cause they are the only ones who support HFCS. HFCS is a cheap way of processing sugar and will definitely cause many illnesses in the future. stick to the natural!!!!!

I agree with Leeron. HFCS is added to everything in huge amounts. It is one of the main causes of the weight gain in the fact that corn (along with other grains) contain fungi, which in turn, cause multiple problems with our bodies. I, too, use it!!!
