"If you just "over" ate...should you really be hungry? So you really need to eat fruit after a big meal? Adding vinegar to your meal, because you know that you are going to "overeat"? ...Maybe plan on not overeating...instead of planning...

Fruit does not make other food rot in the stomach. Where on earth did such an idea come from?

It doesn't make other food rot, the fruit rots. Fruit is digested very quickly so if not eaten on an empty stomach, it will get thrown to the top and will digest after the other food is digested

wow..fruit juice does not take the place of wine. After the fermentation process that turns the fruit sugar in to alcohol and a person consumes the alcohol (any alcohol), Blood in the body of that person metabolizes differently. Remember wine and Vinegar are closely related. This will not happen with juice. Juice will not work like fruit either due to the fact it doesn't contain the valuable fiber that the body does not absorb and works to speed up metabolism.

Any vinegar works. Balsamic vinegar reductions are also very tasty on fruit and even ice cream! Take 1c of balsamic vinegar and simmer it down until it's 1/4c and set aside to cool in an airtight container. (DO NOT put it in the fridge--it'll harden and be useless, and make sure you wash the pan right away or the sugar will stick to the pan and it's really hard to clean.) A little goes a really long way and it makes food taste sooo good.

I agree with the last few comments about the fruits. They should not be eaten after a meal, especially after you've eaten lots of protein and starchy foods, these foods take much longer to digest than fruits and vegetables. Fruits should be eaten before the meal, however its best to eat them as a snack on their own. When there are too many different foods being ingested, the body gets confused. There are specific enzymes to digest each one so if the stomach is working on digesting proteins, then it will push back the digesting time of the others. So, as the result of eating fruits after a big meal, you may experience an upset stomach and usually gas... which is probably best to avoid. Eat veggies before proteins save the big stuff for last because it will take much longer to digest and will save you on a possibly embarrassing issue later on in the night. cheers!

That whole eating fruit separately thing is utter hogwash and has no basis in nutritional science.

Just because somebody writes a book or puts it on the internet doesn't make it true.

OK, so I want to know how to lower sugar, my doctor is on me about sugar, we always do fats, but, if you eat less fat food, yet with a lot of natural sugar, it works against you. It could be low in fat and high in sugar. So how do you eat fruit with sugar or low fat bake goods that still have sugar in them. It is a vicious cycle. I've seen so called sugar free ice cream in the market, in reading the label it had 3 grams of sugar, now that isn't a lot but in terms of the label saying no sugar and low fat, you loose. You pretty much have to eat what it says or you get wacked in the end. Bananas have sugar, Apples etc.

Eat fruit, when you want a piece of fruit. The myths about eating foods at certain times is stupid. When people forgo fruit and go for something that is not so healthy does not do justice to the body. I do not understand how wine makes a person lose weight? I can see it now when Trixie goes out to eat with her husband and has a liquid dinner, instead of a healthier choice. It is funny how people will rationalize that drinking more booze will make them lose weight. Hey, I may be a wino,but at least I am not fat.

I adore Ayuveda, and I fully believe that digestion is the key to a healthy, balanced life. According to Ayuveda, you do not eat fruit on a full stomach. You eat it for breakfast or for a snack...in other words, on an empty stomach. Fruit is digested very quickly, so it's going to get down there to your stomach and just sit and wait its turn.

That's gross.
