I've heard and read that eating fruit with such dissimilar foods, as a dessert, makes digestion somewhat uneasy--even to the point that such a meal induces more fat storage than otherwise: Perhaps the practice is similar in some ways to eating heavy at night. So, many experts disagree--they indicate that raw fruits (possibly excepting apples) are better as snacks than in meals. Fruits certainly are very high in fiber and in certain nutrients the body needs: Nonetheless, some experts wish for us to limit fruits (and alcoholic beverages) even more stringently--even to the point of elimination from one's diet--they indicate that the sugars aren't worth it.... I think I do better without the mentioned fruits, and most others, in meals.... — Anonymous |

Are there any particular fruits recommended for diabetics in regards to these findings? I understand that all berries are the best as they do not contain as much sugar as say a banana or an apple. Are there any other fruits to look out for that do not have too many sugars in them? — Anonymous |

Is there a substitute for the red wine? I am a recovering alcoholic (clean & sober 9 years) and this would be a very bad idea for me. — Anonymous |

What these studies fail to take into account is that regular old grape juice can do the same for you as wine. You don't need to drink alcohol to get the benefits they describe. — Anonymous |

I thought you were supposed to eat fruit on an empty stomach because it gets in the way of digestion of other types of foods and makes the other foods rott in your stomach when eaten together?? — Anonymous |
