The Health Benefits and Cons of Coffee

Information every coffee lover should have.

"Keep in mind, this article speaks about coffee WITHOUT any creams or sugars. If you're the type of drinker that has sugar with a side of coffee in their cup, your cup of java will have added health cons than someone who drinks it straight...

I have heard that coffee may contain high levels of pesticides that threaten health. Does anyone know how common this is and whether it's best to drink organic coffee instead of non-organic?

I am not exactly sure about the studies that this article refers to but I can tell you from personal experience that caffeine, coffee or tea, does not do all that this article states it does. My aunt and my mother both drank coffee, two to four cups, every day of their adult lives. I at least know of the last 46 years of it for a fact. They both died, within 6 months of each other, from Alzhiemers. So, not real sure where this study was done, or how they got their information, but it is not a tried and true solution, nor should anyone really on drinking coffee or tea to aid in their genetic disorders. Sorry, folks.

In regard to "bad" cholesterol and boiled or unfiltered coffee, is instant coffee in either category?

I do not agree with you when you say that drinking coffee reduce the risk of dementia and also that lowered the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. My mom since she was a young girl drank at least 10 cups of coffee a day and she developed type 2 diabetes at 40 now she has type 1 diabetes and she also
suffers from Alzheimer's and Parkinson, now the doctors cut her coffee intake to 2 a day. She is now

I have COPD and I have brought myself out of a very severe attack many times by standing over a pot of coffee.
Coffee is a bronchodilator and it has saved my life because of it.
I drink coffee to enhance the benefits of caffeine as well.

most of the coffees are filled with ARTIFICIAL flavors added to the non organic coffees...anybody drinking these artificial flavors are doing a grave injustice to their bodies....same with all recipies in this mag that has sugar sugar sugar as their 2nd ingredient and buttuer and all the junk added to the recipies should learn to watch because that is why the people in the country is fat and getting all kinds of illnesses diabetes cancer, and heart problems......unfortunately most people have no knowledge about the proper nutrition that can be taught to them with great TASTING foods......wish I could help0 the world....please try to find out............

Coffee isn't a magic bullet for reducing dementia, Alzheimers, or diabetes. Certainly, other factors are involved. I've been drinking multiple cups every day for nearly 40 years...and it's not even habit forming.

I drink one cup of coffee every morning a half hour before I work out because it is a great bronchodilator and I have physical induced asthma. I also use my inahler but the coffee helps when it is combined with it. The recommendation to drink a cup of caffeine a half hour before exercise came from my Asthma and Allergen specialist.

Regarding another article you have about coffee, it was stated that "most good coffee makers regulate the water temperature (to about 200 degrees) for you," but my experience tells me that's not true. I tested three different automatic drip coffee makers i have, none of them cheap, and the hottest any of them got the water was 174, and most of the time it was lower. To get 200 degree water, I have to heat it in my electric kettle (I tested that, too, and when I asked for 200 degree water, that's what I got) and brew the coffee by pouring it over ground coffee in a cone filter.
