By EatingWell Editors, "Health Perks," November/December 2009

How much coffee should you drink to lower your risk of three common diseases?

READER'S COMMENT:
"right on! since I drink coffee and my wife doesn't, that means my memory will be better than hers! i can't wait! "

That morning cup of coffee does more than just help you to get going, suggests a rush of recent research. Here’s how much you may need to drink daily to lower your risk of these three increasingly common diseases. Warning: some people may feel jittery after just one cup.

Dementia & Alzheimer’s Disease*

Type 2 Diabetes

Parkinson’s Disease

*The lowest risk was found in people who drank 3 to 5 cups daily. Drinking more than 5 cups didn’t offer as much protection.
