I recently started buying Maple Grove Farms of Vermont, the Champagne Vinegrette to fill the void when I just don't feel up to making my salad dressings... 11 ingredients and the only thing I see really questionable is the Xanthan Gum, and it is 2nd to last ingredient in the list so I would think it is hardly something to fret about...Did Eating Well take a look at the Maple Farms brands? - Right there in Vermont!

I always go for the Newman's! It's really gross looking at salad dressing ingredients and finding chemicals!

My favourite salad dressing is the one my mother made...and she just did it right into the salad. First, she drizzled a tiny bit of olive oil over it, and tossed the salad (with her hands which were always CLEAN!) to lightly coat all the salad vegetables. Then she drizzled about the same amount of red wine vinegar and tossed it again. Finally, she sprinkled a tiny bit of salt, freshly cracked pepper, and tore into tiny bits fresh herbs from Grandpop Bruno's garden--parsley, basil, oregano. A final toss, and-- Presto! Ensalada!
