Natural sea salts contain 75 percent of sodium chloride. They cannot be eaten. For food you need to use rock salt of marine origin (99% NaCl).
But most of the underground rock salt deposits are not of marine origin, since they originated from the sediments of high thermal brines.

The article states that sea salt has more flavor, etc. Sea salt comes in different sized crystals so I don't know which seal salt they are comparing with table salt. The sea salt we use every day has little taste so I have to shake a bunch of it on items. Table salt is stronger and tastes "saltier".

As my sea salt is all stuck together in the shaker, I removed it and washed shaker and top. I know it's the humidity that is make this stuff stick together. The shaker is plastic and I can see that the inside is "foggy". I'd really like to know what to do about his because we have high dew points and temperatures all summer. The air-conditioning is running all the time.

The larger sea salt crystals we never use. It's in a shaker too, and you have to turn the bottom/top to grind it up. Maybe it's the shaker, but very little comes out.

Well I am 56 years old, I have been eating comercial iodide salt all my life, left and right and I do not suffer from high blood pressure, or have a heart problem related disease... Seems to me that if you are prone to genetic heart disease, you will get sick at any point in time during your life, the only thing you can do is keep your body fit eat healthy and let nature do the rest......

It depends on the sea. If you use sea salt from the ocean around fukishima.....maybe not so healthy! for example!

I am one of the few people who can EASILY taste the difference between sea salt and rock salt!! I've tasted many products from friends and family without knowing the ingredients and can easily tell which ones had the sea salt because my tastebuds recognize with a bad taste.

If you are worried about sea salt not containing iodine, you can always take an iodine supplement, one drop daily, problem solved. Sea Salt is far healthier for the body simply because of it's natural form that has not been tampered with.

It makes sense to me that sea salt would be more healthy because it still has it's natural minerals whereas table salt which is also used in industry is processed and stripped of it's natural components. Therefore, the human body recognizes unprocessed seasalt as a natural product and is able to utilize it more efficiently the way it was intended to be used by the body and does not cause serious blood pressure problems when used in moderation. ..

You can get sea salt with added iodine. I buy it all the time. I do now have to wonder about the point above that water pollutants may be an attribute of sea salt whereas mined salt has not come into contact with modern day pollution. Hmmm! Something to think about.

All salt is sea salt. The rock salt in mines was created when that land was under the sea. The healthiest salt is from the Himalayan mountain salt mines, an area now in Pakistan. It was raised out of the sea 250 million years ago when the land now known as South Asia, collided with the Eurasian continent thus forming the Himalaya mountains.
