My usual topping for oatmeal and boxed cereal consists of 2 tablespoons each of chopped walnuts, chopped dates, chopped almonds, and wheat germ to which I add a small amount of honey (dates are sweet so it does not take much) and a splash of milk. Those toppings add to the fiber, protein and vitamins And, no, I do not eat that much; that is two meals. Sometimes I use herbs and spices to make oatmeal or omelets, etc. by smelling the likely choices and then using what appeals to me best at the time. Try adding so jam or compote just remember that you should not need as much or any sweetener. One of my favorites is apricot. Tomorrow I am going to try canned pineapple chunks in their own juice that have been slightly blended. I know that canned pineapple comes in pieces smaller pieces, but I find that those smaller pieces have more of the tougher parts of a pineapple in with them.
Just milk, and a little sugar.

You need an "All of the above" to check and then and area to add more as well, your pole is way to limited.
I never ate oatmeal until I arrived in America. We ate porridge with fat-free milk, (we had our own dairy). Since I cannot find the makings for porridge I now enjoy oatmeal with milk.

Bananas with brown sugar. Healthy and it tastes like Bananas Foster!
Salt - I have low blood pressure and it's a tasty way to get some extra salt. And I don't feel good when I eat sweet foods in the morning.
I like to vary my combinations, but my favorite is diced apples, walnuts, honey, ground flaxseed, and a splash of almond or coconut milk.

I add blueberries and peanut butter. It's delicious, I look forward to it every morning.

I add a heaped tespoon of wheatgerm and one of oatbran to regular oats and soak overnight. When it's cooked I spread the top with mashed banana, honey and cinnamon.

I add flax meal, dried cherries and cinnamon. Agave nectar or honey is a great sweetener. Cocoa powder is also a good addition.
Not instant, I add a a slice of pear a slice of apple some banana pieces some walnuts and raisins. At times when I am not able to finish the portion I add the plain oatmeal with some millet and ragi flour to make a dough then roll it as a flat bread ( Bhakri called in India ) roast it and it's the best wholesome food.

I like to add raisins; light brown sugar and cinnamon with a teaspoon of low fat butter or low fat margarine.
I eat this every morning and it is my favorite meal of the day: 1/2 cup of oatmeal with 1 tablespoon of roasted ground flax seed, sprinkle of cinnamon, and after it is done add 1/2 a splenda packet and 1 tablespoon of all natural peanut butter and slice a banana for the top, It is so yummy!
Cinnamon and Honey is the best
For a healthier option I add banana and honey (sometimes healthy and something sweet)
My mum still goes for the "best" and has brown sugar (not so healthy!)
DATES & PECANS
I cook my oatmeal one serving at a time in the microwave. I only use regular, not instant oats. When done, I add about a tablespoon of brown sugar and about a tablespoon or margarine. I mix them through thoroughly. Then sometimes add a little bit of canned fruit. If I want to add applesauce, I don't add the brown sugar nor the margarine; there's enough sweetness and fat in the sauce.
Natural Peanut butter, or Protein powder, flax seeds and a homemade no sugar added berry compote! Yummmy I may make some for breakfast Tomorrow!
I use a no fat granola that I make on top of my oatmeal! YUMMY!!!

I use fruit yogurt. Any fruit type yogurt adds flavor and is nutricious.
Try it with Applesauce you will love it and don't forget a teaspoon of Cinnamon. Rye toast is also very good.

Just finished eating mine...I added sliced almonds, a touch of vanilla & agave. Sometimes I add dried cranberries also.
