Employment Opportunity: Freelance PHP Development

 
EatingWell Media Group is looking for a freelance web application and database developer. This role works closely with creative, editorial, and technology teams to build and maintain internet & intranet applications. Some Flash development experience a definite plus. The successful candidate is required to be nimble and effective in a deadline driven and fast paced environment.

 
Responsibilities:

* Write PHP code and database queries.
* Maintain databases and optimize business processes (MySQL & Filemaker Pro).
* Participate in brainstorms, meetings and provide ideas for solutions to improve our website and partner products.

 
Requirements:

* A degree (in Computer Science, to be specific) would impress us but it’s not required if your skills are up to par.
* 2+ years of active web development experience with proven ability to deliver exceptional work under time constraints.
* Expert-level knowledge of PHP, MySQL, JS, CSS/XHTML, AJAX and familiarity with cross-platform/browser compatibility issues.
* Experience with Web 2.0 API’s (JQuery, Prototype, Scriptulous, YUI, etc.).
* Comfortable with some server management (Linux, Apache, MySQL, DNS).
* Familiarity with server-to-server web services (SOAP or REST).

 
The following are definite pluses:

* Familiarity with existing PHP development frameworks (Zend, Cake, Symfony, etc.).
* Some Macromedia Flash and/or ActionScript coding.
* Experience with streaming media technologies specifically Windows Media Player and Flash Video using Flash Media Server is a plus.
