Healthy Whoopie Pies

Until I moved to Vermont, I had never heard of whoopie pies— a cream-filled cakey chocolate sandwich cookie originally from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. They have a cultlike following in New England. At every roadside stop between here and Maine they are piled up in neat little stacks. And they’re quite delicious…but often made with a filling of sugar-laced shortening. So they’re not so stellar nutritionally.


I just made a batch of Whoopie pies and they were all well received...I made them the original way...

Sorry but this does not interest me at all. The main reason is that I avoid canola oil like the plague and have no fear of healthy natural saturated fat. I would use coconut oil instead of canola oil and nevermind what the grams of fat is or what the calorie count is. I would also use whole raw milk. Nonfat milk is not a whole food. what is with the fat-phobia?

canola is not healthy, because it has been genetically modified (GMO). Whole Foods was using Canola for 10 years and then there was a class action lawsuit due to people were getting sick from all the gmo's.
