Carolyn Casner, one of our recipe testers here in the EatingWell Test Kitchen, grew up on the border in El Paso, Texas, so she knows Mexican food. You can also use soy crumbles in place of ground beef. You can mix them in with the taco seasoning and water without frying them. Because of how powerful the seasoning is, I can't taste the difference.
