EatingWell made over this family favorite, boosting fiber with a whole-wheat crust, cutting fat and cholesterol with low-fat cheese, and using healthy toppings, such as low-fat turkey pepperoni and vegetables. With a couple of easy tweaks you can consider even classic pepperoni pizza health food.
Actually, I prefer my pizza makeover to the regular pizzas I see everywhere. Here's what I do:
1. Buy whole wheat pizza dough (trust me---you can hardly tell the difference).
2. I just used crushed tomatoes in place of pizza sauce.
3. Instead of pepperoni, I use low-fat turkey kabosa which actually tastes ALOT better than pepperoni.
4. I load up with veggies: tomatoes, carmelized onions (I make this myself), roasted garlic, lots of mushrooms, and roasted red peppers and green olives.
5. Instead of putting tons of mozerella cheese on (which has no flavour anyway), I use a 4 cheese blend of provolone, asagio, montary-jack and romano. With the full taste that these cheeses have, you only need about 3/4 of a cup on the pizza as opposed to the probably 2 cups that people are used to.
6. Finally, I sprinkle a bit of pizza seasoning (basil, oregano, parsley and garlic) over the top and then into the oven it goes.
This is far better than anything you'll get at Dominos!!

The best and easiest sauce for pizza comes from the Silver Palate. It's also very healthy. Take a can of crushed tomatoes, add a clove or two of chopped garlic, a tablespoon of dried basil, a tablespoon of oregano and cook for 20 minutes on stove or 10 min microwave. Nice intense tomato flavor, thick consistency. Yum.

Try getting a fat-free/vitamin added marinara sauce from a health store. I got one from Trader Joes and I swear it tasted better than normal marinara sauce! Then you don't have to mess with that pumpkin puree.
