EatingWell's Healthy Cobb Salad

Classic salads, like Cobb salad, may seem like healthy choices, but that’s not always the case. Once they’re loaded up with dressing, cheese, meats, eggs, bacon and the like, they often come out anything but healthy. But don’t worry. We have great recipes for Cobb Salad, Caesar Salad, Spinach Salad and Chef’s Salad that strike the perfect balance between good nutrition and great taste.

One of the tricks to making a healthier salad is a lighter dressing, especially when we’re talking about creamy dressing. That means choosing low-fat or nonfat dairy products and light mayonnaise in recipes. To make sure they still have plenty of great flavor we add fresh herbs to Ranch Dressing and a touch of bold-flavored cheese in the case of Blue Cheese Dressing.

And for a quick take on Cobb that’s perfect to pack for lunch, try our Shrimp Cobb Salad.
