This is what I’ll be grilling when I have a hankering for a New York strip steak (which is too expensive at around $9.50 per pound). Sirloin is less expensive at around $6 per pound. It has less fat than a strip steak, and because of that it can be a little dry. But that’s easily remedied by watching it closely to prevent overcooking or by turning it into kebabs. Just cut it into 1-1/2-inch cubes and thread it onto a skewer with some veggies. And here’s another money-saving tip: by pairing your steak kebabs with vegetables (which tend to be a lot cheaper than meat) means you won’t need to buy as much sirloin to make your meal.
