I need to know what to do about having gas after eating beans? Is there anything you can do or take?

Theresa, Louisville, KE
After I pick the beans free from rocks and debris I wash them three or four times and then I soak them a minimum of 8 hours in water, sometimes even 10 hours. You will notice after this time that the water has lots of little bubbles in it. You never cook the beans in this water always drain the beans in a strainer or colander and rinse them in cold water. then put them on to cook in fresh water. Not only does it greatly lessen the amount of gas from the beans they will cook in much less time. Do not salt them until they are almost done. Salt toughens them. Salt strips vegetables of their nutrition when cooked with salt. Add your salt after cooking if you must have salt.
