Some celebrity chefs are banding together to help save endangered fish.
"That is a wreckfish (Polyprion americanus) Alton is holding but is NOT on Seafood Watch’s red “Avoid” list. In fact they list it as 'Best Choice' because it is one of the best managed fisheries in the world.

I was thrilled to open my new issue of Eating Well when I saw this picture of my favorite celebrity chef, Alton Brown, supporting one of my favorite causes, sustainable seafood. Thank you, Eating Well Magazine, for bringing this issue to the forefront!

Wonderful news! Super fan of Alton Brown, but can't help wondering about the fate of the fish he is holding ...

This is fantastic! I have a little card in my wallet listing all of the fish to eat and to avoid from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Their site also says that Target will not be selling farmed salmon (yay!). You can check out more info on this subject and print out your own Seafood Watch Pocket Guide here: http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/cr/seafoodwatch.aspx

Hooray! This is great news, especially the pledge by Walmart. They are a game-changer, for better or worse.
