I recently had a baby and am trying to lose those last few pregnancy pounds. With a young child and a full-time job, I have little time for exercise. Luckily, there’s another option: eating!

New research suggests that there’s a way to prevent this weight gain or even encourage weight loss—without dieting. The secret? Eat more fiber. Why? Researchers at Brigham Young University in Utah found that women who increased their fiber intake generally lost weight. Read more about the study below.

When I was a kid, my mom would always have a snack waiting for me when I got home from school. Cheese, whole-grain crackers and fruit were a staple, but sometimes she’d be inspired and serve my sister and me something fun, like Chocolate Crunch, a chocolate-covered version of her homemade cereal mix. As vividly as I remember the food, I also remember talking to her about my day. Seems like such a simple pleasure, but it meant so much. My husband and I love to spend our evenings making dinner and talking while we cook. But these days we want to hang out with our 6-month-old son too, and cooking just isn’t as much of a priority. So we’ve been making a lot of delicious 20-minute dinner recipes that give us a chance to spend a few minutes over a great meal together, but get us out of the kitchen fast and back to our boy.

I went out to dinner with my friend Dara and her 4-year-old daughter last week and watched in amazement as her little cutie picked every last bit of green vegetable out of her dinner.

I smiled (my son is only 5 months old so I don’t have to deal with picky eating yet), but Dara was frustrated. “How can I get her to eat better?” she asked.
