Brunch is one of life's simple pleasures. I love sitting with a few friends, enjoying a leisurely cup of coffee and savoring an omelet in the middle of the morning. When it comes down to it, there are very few foods I’d pick over a creamy bowl of guacamole and crispy tortilla chips. They are hands-down my favorite party snack, especially when paired with a citrusy margarita. In the last few months, my wife and I have managed to cut our grocery bill by a solid $50-$60 per week. Needless to say, that’s made a big difference in our budget—we find ourselves saving more each month and better able to do fun stuff like eat out occasionally and even go on weekend trips. It’s amazing what a difference a few extra dollars can make in your overall quality of life.

As a certified meat lover, it’s hard to imagine cutting tasty bacon, savory chicken thighs or buttery steak from my diet. Still, I know that it’s considerably healthier to reduce the amount of meat that I eat. A vegetarian diet could lower my risk of chronic conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes. And—no surprise—people who cut meat from their diet tend to take in less saturated fat and cholesterol and get more fiber, vitamins C and E and heart-healthy unsaturated fat.
