Tips and recipes for a veggie BBQ

We had some great responses to last week's cookbook giveaway question, "What’s your best advice for making vegetarian eating easy when you go out to a party or barbecue?" Here's what you told us:

Grill kebabs of assorted veggies and tofu, tempeh or veggie sausage (try using a rosemary branch as a skewer for extra flavor!) --charlottejkenney

Marinate a portobello mushroom in balsamic vinegar, olive oil and dijon mustard and throw it on the BBQ for a great portobello mushrooom burger! --lisamsrd

Steam asparagus, sliced potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, carrots or pepper in foil packets. --charlottejkenney

Go fresh! Potato salad, cole slaw, carrots, celery and fresh veggies to dip in a homemade hummus, quacamole or salsa! So many of the classic BBQ dishes are already vegetarian, but I try to spice them up a bit using fresh herbs and veggies. --laner262

Bring a filling vegetarian dish that fits the theme and is not too "out there" for veggie-phobes. I like to make a pasta salad with plenty of beans and veggies. This has always been a big hit, and it means that I have a filling meatless entree. --daturafae

As we head into barbeque season, here are some vegetarian grilling recipes you can try (for something different, try this Black Bean Nacho Pizza or Grilled Portobello "Steak" Sandwiches with Blue Cheese Sauce).
