I've heard some people say that cooking meatless meals is too time consuming. But I almost always cook meatless meals at home, in part because I see it as a fast option. There are some things I always keep in my fridge and pantry to pull together quick meatless meals--eggs, beans, cheese, onions, spices, fast-cooking grains. But I've also found that stocking my freezer with frozen vegetables, such as peas, spinach, broccoli and corn, rounds out the nutrition value and flavor of my meals on nights when I don't have more time to shop for and prepare fresh veggies. You probably know that there are benefits to eating breakfast. Regular breakfast eaters tend to be leaner and are more successful at losing weight. Breakfast also provides a chance to get in some healthy food groups—whole grains, fruit, milk—so it’s no wonder breakfast eaters usually have a higher-quality diet than nonbreakfast eaters. But when it comes to what time you eat breakfast, does it make a difference? If you’re a morning exerciser, is does.

It seems like everyone has an opinion about milk—some people drink organic milk, hormone-free milk, raw milk, whole milk, skim milk, use it occasionally (but don’t drink it) or avoid dairy at all costs... (I’m sure you can add your own two cents here.) As a registered dietitian and associate nutrition editor at EatingWell Magazine, I can tell you that milk and other dairy products can be part of a healthy diet, but it’s also possible to have a healthy diet that’s dairy-free. Did you hear about the "Flash Workout" that broke out at schools around the country on Tuesday? As part of Michelle Obama's Let's Move! initiative, pop star Beyonce turned her song "Move Your Body" into a workout video that was aired simultaneously at more than 600 schools across the country--students at many schools had been learning the workout beforehand. (You can watch Beyonce's Flash Workout video here.) Michelle Obama showed up at Alice Deal Middle School in Washington, D.C. to join in the dance (check out her moves here).

I love the idea of the flash workout--inspiring so many kids to get moving in such a fun, collaborative way. What do you think?
