Pink Lady...It's great for eating and juicing and also for baking.

I love the 'pink lady' variety...they're excellent for snacking on, juicing and hold pretty well in baking.

When I tasted Honey Crisp apples - the world opened up to me. When I shared some with my family they all became converts. WE LOVE Honey Crisp! Granny Smith & or Pink Lady for cooking - each has a place - each has a taste that is unique.

McIntosh are also great snacker apples. The juicy and crisp, but not too dense texture that I love. I also love Fuji for both snacking and sauces. But red delicious....their texture might be edible, but they taste like cardboard! The overproduced apple is practically subsidized at this point, decreasing many of the other varieties out there. No wonder kids don't eat their fruit in school...they're served under-ripe, cardboard-like, overwaxed red delicious apples!

I love Red Delicious but only when they are first harvested. After a short while their texture is lost and I no longer enjoy them raw. I also love Granny smiths and the Honeycrisp. Generally any apple that is fragrant when I buy it is a favorite at the time.

Braeburn apples hands down! Just the right amount of crisp/tart/sweet.

I love the Gala for eating, or baking, or making apple sauce. I use it a lot for apple crisp and bake it without removing the skin. I have my own trees and do not spray them.

I love the Jonagold and Fuji for eating. I'm also a fan of the apple called Jazzapple. They're sweet and crispy. It's really great for children's lunchboxes and snacks because of the small size.

I have never really enjoyed the good 'ole Red Delicious. As such, they are never in my shopping cart. I was surprised the other day when my daughter said "Mom... you never buy those really good apples, you know, the ones that are red that are always at school. Can you get those?" After a bit of trial and error we discovered that this is her favorite apple! I completely agree with your Granny/McIntosh combo... these are my go to apple pie apples!
