Carolyn asks: Are you one of the people who would argue that making guacamole with anything more than avocados, salt and lime juice is a recipe for disaster? What do you put in your best guacamole recipe?
Only salt, lime juice, tomatoes and onion. Adding salsa to it is a crime!

I usually add a little mayo for consistancy, a little minced onion, diced tomato and a dash of hot sauce.

My friend learned to make guacamole in Hawaii with just these ingredients...
I use the cilantro, garlic, lime, diced tomato and onion. To keep it from oxidizing I leave the pits in the guacamole. My son -in - law who dislikes anything "un-natural" loves this.

I use avocados, lime juice, garlic salt, salsa Mexicana rojo or salsa verde. This is a bit more spicy and tangy, but the extra lime juice I use makes the dip great for taking on outings because it doesn't turn dark as fast as it does when you only use a small amount. ET Crowe

Sometimes I like a little more of a creamy texture so I mix the avocados and garlic with mayo. It's really good.

My feeling that guacamole must have a chopped jalapeno pepper in it as well as some chopped red onion. Too bland without it!

I use 2 avocados, a jalapeño pepper, a finely chopped small onion and tomato, lime juice, a minced clove of garlic, a handful of cilantro and a sprinkling of salt. Yummy!!! Who needs the chips??

I also use mashed up Green Giant peas, thawed + a mild to hot salsa.

Oh my gosh I have discovered how delicious my traditional guacamole (lime, salt, avacado) tastes with a bit of chipotle peppers with adobo sauce! Delicious! They also make a great addition to most any soup! And eggs and..LOL!
