From the 2nd tip: "If you insist on ignoring my first tip, then keep in mind ....." That sounds quite condescending, maybe some of us don't have the time first thing in the morning.

I've been quite satisfied with using quick-cooking oats, rather than steel-cut, that I buy in bulk at Winco stores, located on the West Coast. The shorter preparation time is one of this breakfast's attractions. The bulk source ensures that I'm not including any the additives that might be in pre-measured packets.
A packet of Splenda gives me a pre-measured sweetener, while minimizing calories.
A half cup of dark grape juice, mixed with a half cup of water, adds unique flavor, a bit more sweetening, and a shot of anti-oxidants.
I then add a handful of blueberries, blackberries (free for the picking when in season), or dried cranberries or raisins.
Finally, I add a heavy sprinkling of ground ginger & cinnamon.
Microwave, interrupting a couple of times to stir.
Great breakfast... every morning!

I make my Steel cut Oats overnight in the slow cooker. I use 4.5 cups water to 1 cup Oats, add cinnamon, salt and dried fruit. The secret to great turnout is you must have a smaller narrower slow cooker so the water doesn't evaporate to fast. The 1 cup of Oats makes enough to last nearly all week for 1 person, I top it with either yogurt or milk and maple syrup.

Instead of sugar, I put chopped dates.

I find it tastes great on it's own, the additions I make are to improve nutrition. I always add a few scoops of yogurt, seasonal berries (or warmed frozen berries), and a combination of pipitas, sunflower seed and walnuts. I eat this almost every day of the year; delicious!!!

I love oatmeal and this looks soooo good. It is a good way to jupmstart the day.I have been in a bit of a slump myself lately. I have been extremely busy at work and don't want to so spend time at the computer. I'll get over it now that the weather is turning nicer and be back to posting soon. Hoep all is well!

I make a concoction of ground flaxseed, walnuts,
Cinnamon, brown sugar with a little low fat
Milk. I keep the dry ingredients in a jar mixed
together ready to use.
