I always make a traditional thanksgiving dinner, how I keep calories down is to eat only the white meat without the skin and skip the gravy all together. My mashed potatoes are rich with butter and whole milk but I eat only a small amount then I make plenty of vegetable side dishes. Roasted brussel sprouts, asparagus and a salad. I love cranberry sauce and I add apples and walnuts when cooking them, I reduce the amount of sugar and I eat a small portion with my turkey meat, Love it! Portion size is the key and if you offer more vegetables to fill up on you will eat less of the more fatty foods. I make Alton Browns sweet Potatoe pie for dessert.
