Excellent article. When I was a kid in Amman, Jordan, 1960's, Dad would save all of the pickle juice and reuse it.
We used to pickle what we called hairy cucumbers, a older variety of Armenian cucumbers, very delicate
couldn't hold up to cooking, sliced in chunks popped, in to the brine refrigerated for a couple of days. They were crunchy and delicious. Never did determine refrigerator life, they disappeared too quickly.
