Matthew asks: How do you accommodate people with special dietary needs at your dinner table?


My family has always liked my eggplant parmesan. I usually make a batch for the freezer. That way I can always pull it out at the last minute. It's vegetarian and gluten free.

As a vegetarian, the best thing you can do is make sides that don't use any products vegetarians don't eat. Use marshmallow cream instead of marshmallows (gelatin), put veggie broth in sides. Make stuffing on the side (not only in the turkey) and find one without sausage and chicken broth. I would prefer these options than someone going out and trying to do a Tofurkey (yuck!). If you can't get by without using broth in everything at least have a few things and tell the person up front what is vegetarian.
