Hilary asks: Do you eat food past its expiration date?

Sometimes I eat yogurt a few days past date: I don't even look at the date on my eggs.

I really need to know about yogurt, greek yogurt. Is the date on the container the sell by date or the eat by date. It doesnt specify , its just a date no wording. if its the eat-by date, i will be throwing aaway a lot of yogurt on a regular basis.

Years ago there wasn't any expiration dates on food. We ate it unless it smelled bad or had a funny color to it. Thirteen of us and we never got sick or ill.

By the way, cheese with mold on it can be cut of and enjoyed.

I have lived in countries that do not refrigerate eggs (in the shell) at all. Is it necessary? We never experienced any ill effects from this.

Yes, I eat a lot of canned food past their expiration date, and some packaged foods like chips past their sell vy or best by dates. The canned foods are sometimes 6 months past their recommeded date of expiration.

yes I do...just because it has a date on it doesn't mean that it is no good...I have found canned goods and other things in my mothers attack that were a few years old and when opened they were just as fresh and good as the day she would have bought them.
