Adding lean protein like baked chicken, boiled cabbage, tons of mixed veggies, and using sun-dried tomato pesto to one serving of whole weat pasta. If you like it more saucy, add a little water and a tablespoon of vegetable oil to your pesto. So delicious and makes two very large servings. No guilt either!

Whole grains and no cheese, start with a big salad with no fat dressing.

Instead of adding ground beef to tomato sauce, I add finely chopped carrot that I saute with onion and mushrooms to make a tasty "meat sauce." If you use the meat flavored sauce from the store, your kids can't tell the difference and they can be tricked into eating more veggies.

Use spaghetti squash instead of pasta! Or substitute it for half of the pasta you'd normally use.
