3 summer wines under $15 (they're made with organic grapes, too!)

I love eating local in the summertime, but living in Vermont there are very few local wines to drink. So I started looking for great-tasting “green” wines to pair with my summer suppers. And, of course, I wanted to save some green too!

I tried some of the earth-conscious wines recommended by master sommelier Andrea Robinson in the latest issue of EatingWell Magazine and found 3 summer wines I love—and they’re all under $15! Plus, these wines are made with grapes grown according to certified-organic standards and processed in certified organic facilities.
Try these 3 summer wines under $15 paired with healthy EatingWell recipes:

  1. Bonterra Chardonnay, Mendocino 2006 ($11) | Bonterra has been one of California’s organic-farming leaders, making quality and affordable wines all the while. Delicious tropical mango and pineapple flavors. Try it with: Shrimp Saganaki
  2. Emiliana Natura Sauvignon Blanc, Valle Casablanca, Chile 2007 ($9) | From organic farming to “green” packaging, Emiliana is passionate about the environment and sustainability. This wine has zingy acidity and mouthwatering passion fruit, kiwi and Key lime pie flavors. Try it with: Grilled Chicken Ratatouille
  3. Frey Vineyards Petite Sirah Organic Wine, No Added Sulfites, Mendocino 2006 ($14) | This winery has long been committed to organic farming and winemaking without added sulfites. Full-fruited and peppery, this certified organic wine has boysenberry flavors and a spicy finish. Try it with: Flank Steak with Coffee-Peppercorn Marinade
