After reading Nicci's article about her concern with eating meat contaminated with e-coli, I wonder if she has seen the documentary film called : Food, Inc. It is very informative & gives some good insight into the commercial food industry. I had already started buying local meat about a year ago & it really is more flavorful and without all the hormones and additives that commercial meat has. One new fact I learned from seeing Food Inc is that not many people are aware that in commercial fast food hamburgers, ammonia is added to combat e-coli. Mmmm now that's a healthy alternative. So it's not always bacteria that we have to watch out for, but all the other things that pose health risks as well. The simpler the better - why do people feel so compeled to mess with natural things?!?
