Yes, I avoid it whenever possible; especially in granola bars that I eat for a "healthy" snack. My hb & I don't drink soda or eat many processed foods so we really don;t get much HFCS in our diets.

Yes but is corn syrup the same thing? Isn't just another form of sugar? Not anymore unhealthier than sugar?

YES! It is a man-made caloric sweetener. If me or my family eat sugar, I'm sure to choose the most natural form.

Yep... I like whole foods. If corn can fatten a cow to supersized and chickens and... then it can surely do that to a human... we should not be shocked. Hopefully you will continue to inspire us with actual food and what to do with it and to avoid mentioning junk food... junk food doesn't need a recipe.

I try to avoid HFCS, but it is literally in EVERYTHING! Even foods that claim to be healthy in the grocery stores all seem to have HFCS hidden in the ingredients somewhere. I would like to see more Stevia and Splenda type of sugars used in products. Why does everything have to have HFCS in it? Because it's cheaper?? If you've ever had a Coke in Europe where they do not use HFCS, it actually tastes so much better. It's because they use real sugar! I think the food industry is getting out of control with finding ways to make processed foods cheaper for themselves, but we end up paying the price. Especially people who do not think to read every ingredient on the label, which is probably most people.

yes i do but at the same time Americans shouldnt be avoiding just one ingredient in desserts or sweets. We all should be trying to limit ourselves to the non-benifit calories! America is all fat and just one ingredient isnt the reason most likely!,

Yes, when ever possible and I have the option. I have made pinapple upside down cake replacing the caro syrup with agave necture. If there is no difference then why are so may companies not using it anymore?

I do avoid HFCS b/c it another highly processed substance that is not a part of a healthy lifestyle. I avoid sugar also, but really do put HFCS in another category of sweetners, just too refined to be healthy for me. My mother had in her later years diabetes which she managed by taking rx not shots. I have not desire to have that problem, so therefore I do avoid things like a particular yogurt which used HFCS as the second and third ingredients list. Yoplait is to me a joke just b/c of this!!

I do avoid any and all products that use HFCS regardless of what it is. There has been science that is not generally reported by anyone about how your body uses or does not use fructose. There is a series of lectures on youtube done that shows the biology of how your body processes any fructose, but especially HFCS the same way it does alcohol. That is the main reason that people who consume large amounts of fructose or HFCS show all the symptoms of alcoholics without the brain damage. You get the "beer belly", the liver damage, etc.
The lectures are presented by Dr. Robert H. Lustig, Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology at University of California,
Glucose is the form of energy we were designed to run on. Every cell in our bodies, every bacterium -- and in fact, every living thing on the Earth -- uses glucose for energy.
Fructose is not the same molecule. Glucose is a 6-member ring, but fructose is a 5-member ring. Sucrose (table sugar) is 50 percent glucose and 50 percent fructose, and HFCS is 42-55 percent fructose.
That doesn't seem like much of a difference, but when you consider the amount of HFCS that is added to almost all food that isn't prepared from scratch, the amounts you ingest are enormous. It is not just in sodas.
If you add fruit juices and even whole fruit to a child's diet thinking your doing the right thing, it just adds to the burden.
My youngest daughter had processed foods from a very early age because of poor choices and lack of knowledge on my part. I am convinced that there is a direct correlation to that and her metabolic syndrome issues today.
There is no prior family history of anyone that young (she is 16, but this showed up at age 6) having issues in her dad's family or mine, but from over all the years of eating processed foods we even exhibit the signs of high triglycerides, high blood pressure, insulin resistance, excess weight in the abdomen area, and cholesterol issues.
There may not be much nutritional differences between sugar and HFCS, but there is significant differences in the way your body uses it. Sucrose is half glucose which our bodies are designed to be able to use. The fructose is stored in the liver and becomes fat. Even if you are not overweight you may still suffer from a fatty liver by ingesting too much fructose.
