Kerri-Ann asks: What’s your pick: hot dog or hamburger?

It's time for nutritionist to stop being parrots for bad advice. The biggest problem with either choice is the calorie dense/nutrition poor buns. Heart disease and obesity has gone up while saturated fat consumption has gone down. The sugar in the condements has no redeeming value as well. I say get some non-corn fattened meat and kibob it with veggies or say pineapple.

Hamburger, definitely!!! You can control how healthy your burger is, while you really cannot control that with a hot dog, because it is processed. I love bison burgers, personally!!! Lower in fat and absolutely delicious if cooked properly!!! Grassfed beef is another excellent choice!!

I agree and figure that hamburger is healthiest. I always buy 90% lean ground round and put my burger on whole grain bread. garnished with ateaspoon of minced garlic, mustard and ketchup. I don't salt my burger because the pickle slices provide the sodium.Sometimes a slice of onion is used which adds a little more orac value to the burger.

Ground chicken burger with fresh herbs from garden. Add a whole wheat bun and fresh veggies to top with a hint of dijon mustard and you have the best of all worlds!

Turkey hot dogs. I must keep red meat to once a week and keep the size small.
