I think HFCS is a leading contributor to diabetes and other deadly diseases. Not sure why no one mentions that the problem with HFCS is that your body doesn't digest and break it down the same way as other sugars, it digests extremely fast and your body absorbs a lot more of this way and it is very hard on your kidneys.

I think that sodas taste better with sugar in them! I think eating too many sweets is bad for your health no matter what form! Everything in moderation! Sometimes what we think is bad for you can make you sick even if it is good for you because the the worry and stress! But I do wish everything we buy to eat could be organic and unaltered !Foods that are chemically changed from pestcides herbicides preservatives dyes artifical flavors and sweetners rancid oils and metals cannot be healthy! We need to go natural all the way ! Look at the Health Food stores the products that are healthy can be and are being made just think if every single store was a Health Food store how much better off we would be? Just the frame of mind Im in when I go there is so different than a regular store! It wouldnt save us from everything but it might save us from ourselves! I heard that some hfcs companies use Mercury that makes me wonder what is really in the foods we eat?????????????????????

If it is really not bad for you as you say why do we not just go back to regular sugar? I lost 86 pounds by eliminating HFCS from my diet but not as you say regular table sugar. Are you now or have you ever been paid by the industry that produces this stuff?

I have read many science-based empirical studies about the subject and am alarmed at the huge amounts of HFCS consummed in our society. I have not the slightest doubt in my mind that it is unhealthy - far worse than table sugar. Furthermore, I accept the evidence that it is actually addicting. It is widely used because there is SO MNUH corn produced in this country (government-subsidised) and the derivatives of it have to be thrust upon consumers. Furthermore it is cheaper to use than table sugar in food products.

If in doubt, don't use it. I have a lot of doubts about the "safety" of HFCS consumption. True, sugar in general should be minimized. There is, however, added danger with habitual use of HFCS. Read labels, don't use it. The following links explain how HCFS metabolizes differently in the body from other sugars and can lead to an array of avoidable health problems. One of the most notable is non-alcoholic liver disease.
