I love sardines because I learned to eat them with my grandfather when I was a kid. He often made a late evening snack of the mustard sauced ones and placed them on a saltine. To my ten year old self the flavor was pungent and delicious. As I have grown much older, this memory has led me to share sardines, especially the boneless and skinless variety with my children and grand children. It's a wonderful (and now I know healthy) memory from my Central Pennsylvania farming background.
Seafood, especially fried fish and oysters and oyster stuffing, were always special foods for holiday gatherings. This was in the day when most of our food was home grown and holidays apparently the time to splurge on these special treats.
Keep up your good work!

Here's the problem, Hilary: For some of us, perhaps many of us, fish tastes like garbage. It's repulsive.
So, instead of eating this vile food, we sensibly take one to two tablespoons of high-quality fish oil daily. In doing so, we gain all the benefits of fish consumption, without the detriments. Our kitchens smell better, too.

My "Pops" ate a can of sardines every day with vegetables. He lived to see 90 years of age. I think it's time that I start trying them. The sardines with crackers are probably my best bet..
